Michael Gencher

I am a proud Pittwater local, a husband and a father of five, and my life is grounded in family and community. I am a public relations professional and a former Pittwater Councillor, known for strong local advocacy and a commitment to community safety, transparency and environmental protection.

I live and work locally, run my own small business, serve in local community organisations, volunteer as a Mona Vale Surf Lifesaver, and work with local schools, sporting clubs and community groups.

I am standing as the Liberal candidate for Pittwater because our community deserves more than announcements. Pittwater needs practical outcomes, clear timelines and a local representative who can deliver.

I understand the pressures facing local families, seniors, small businesses and community groups. The cost of living, traffic congestion, planning, access to health services, education, community safety and emergency preparedness all require serious attention.

Michael Gencher is a dedicated community advocate, small business owner and public relations professional who has called Australia home since moving from Canada in the early 1990s.

A former Pittwater Councillor, Michael has spent decades working in and for the local community. He is known for his practical, outcomes focused approach, strong local advocacy and commitment to transparency, community safety, supporting small business and protecting Pittwater's unique environment.

Michael has run his own business for more than 25 years and understands firsthand the pressures facing local businesses and families.

He is also a long serving patrolling member and former Vice President of Mona Vale Surf Life Saving Club, and was awarded the National Service Medal in recognition of his many years of service. In 2025, his contribution was further recognised when he was named the winner of the Emergency Services volunteer at the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.

While no longer serving on Council, Michael has remained deeply involved in the community, local projects and public debate. He continues to contribute to local discussion through his articles in Pittwater Life, as well as through appearances in national media.

Above all, Michael is a husband and proud father of five. His life is grounded in family, community service and a genuine love of Pittwater, its beaches and its people. When he is not working or volunteering, he can often be found at the beach or training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
